The Gazprom Group’s key environmental protection commitments and mechanisms are enshrined in PJSC Gazprom’s Environmental PolicyApproved by resolution of the Management Committee of OJSC Gazprom No. 21 dated May 25, 2015.. They ensure environmental safety across the Company’s operations, in particular, during the development of hydrocarbon fields in the continental shelf and the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation.
It its operations, PJSC Gazprom adheres to the key provisions of the precautionary principle and makes every effort to minimize its potential technogenic impact on the natural environment and to conserve rare and endangered species of flora and fauna along with unique natural areas and sites.
When planning investment projects, the Company aims to mitigate the risks of adverse environmental impacts, enhance the energy efficiency of production processes and reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. During investment project development, PJSC Gazprom’s experts evaluate the baseline state of key ecosystem components, identify the most vulnerable flora and fauna species, and devise measures to prevent disturbances to the natural balance, minimize environmental effects, and protect the environment during construction and operation of facilities. PJSC Gazprom regularly monitors permafrost and takes steps to make structures more stable and resilient.
In 2025, the PJSC Gazprom Board of Directors held a meeting that included discussion of industrial safety and environmental performanceResolution of the Board of Directors of PJSC Gazprom No. 4219 dated June 18, 2025.. The Board reviewed the Company’s 2024 environmental results and approved the work carried out.
Another Board meeting in 2025 was dedicated to the development and deployment of technologies that reduce negative environmental impact, alongside the use of innovative energy efficiency solutionsResolution of the Board of Directors of PJSC Gazprom No. 4262 dated October 31, 2025.. The Board approved the Company’s work in advancing both priorities.

Through its Environmental Management System (EMS), PJSC Gazprom annually assesses and analyses significant environmental impacts and implements environmental protection programs aimed at fulfilling its Environmental Policy commitments and achieving Corporate Environmental Targets.
The most significant environmental impacts of PJSC Gazprom entitiesFor the purpose of the Environmental Protection and Climate Action section, “Gazprom Group entities” means PJSC Gazprom (the parent company of the Gazprom Group) and its subsidiaries responsible for the core operations. include methane emissions into the atmosphere during gas trunkline repairs, nitrogen oxide emissions during compressor station operation, wastewater discharge, waste disposal, and environmental impacts related to investment projects.
In collaboration with technical working groups, Gazprom VNIIGAZ produced two BAT reference books: ITS 29-2026 Natural Gas Production and ITS 50-2025 Natural and Associated Gas Processing. These reference books are designed to serve as a basic tool for implementing best available technologies in gas production and processing, and are intended for use by both regulators and business entities.

Nikolay Milyutin champions environmental transparency across the Gazprom Group. He manages the disclosure of crucial environmental data to keep key stakeholders, including government bodies, shareholders, investors, and public organizations, fully informed. Mr Milyutin spearheads environmental data collection for the Gazprom Group’s non-financial reporting. He also prepares materials for the Board of Directors and the Management Committee of PJSC Gazprom, empowering top executives to make informed managerial decisions.
Serving on an interdepartmental working group under the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, Mr Milyutin actively helps refine public non-financial reporting mechanisms on a national scale.
His professional dedication reinforces Gazprom’s commitment to sustainable development and ensures robust public access to environmental performance data, directly supporting the Environmental Policy of PJSC Gazprom.
