Investments of Gazprom Group entities in capital assets aimed at environmental protection and rational use of natural resources totaled RUB 40.1 billion, up by 4.58% year-on-year. The growth came from higher spending on expanding the comprehensive gas treatment unit (CGTU) at the Novoportovskoye field, compensatory measures for Gazprom Neft’s capital construction projects, and building a recirculating water system at a Gazprom Energoholding power plant.

In 2025, the Gazprom Group’s investments were allocated as follows:
  • air protection and climate change prevention: RUB 24,660.83 million, including RUB 23,755.77 million for the construction and reconstruction of Gazprom Neft’s fixed assets;
  • wastewater treatment: RUB 9,721.26 million, including RUB 8,471.71 million for the construction of wastewater treatment plants and recirculated water systems;
  • protection and environmental rehabilitation of land, surface and ground water bodies: RUB 1,720.19 million, including RUB 827.98 million for land reclamation;
  • other challenges: RUB 1,516.31 million, including RUB 890,10 million for waste recycling, processing, neutralization facilities, and landfills; and RUB 471.33 million for the protection and reproduction of aquatic biological resources;
  • other: RUB 2,474.00 million, including RUB 1,175.19 million for forest protection and sustainable use.

In the reporting year, Gazprom commissioned 39 wastewater treatment units and facilities with a total capacity of 5,946 m3/day and 13 units for capturing and neutralizing pollutants from waste gases with a capacity of 51,213 m3/hour.

In 2025, the Gazprom Group’s current environmental protection expenditures increased by 10.32% year-on-year to RUB 53,908.85 million. This resulted from higher costs of nature conservation services associated with the preservation and restoration of land, surface and ground water bodies, and wastewater treatment.

Current expenditures increased across the gas, oil, and power generation business segments, which impacted the total amount for the Gazprom Group.

Environmental risk management measures

The Gazprom Group is consistently undertaking the following measures to mitigate natural, climate, and environmental risks:

  • developing and implementing energy efficiency and energy saving programs;
  • leveraging the most effective operating procedures adapted to various climatic conditions;
