Digital Transformation Strategy and its Progress
Digital technologies are an important tool for enhancing the efficiency of corporate governance and achieving strategic goals of the Gazprom Group. The Group’s efforts to address its complex challenges serve as a driving force for the development of various sectors, including the radio electronics industry and the broader IT landscape.
The Gazprom Group’s digitalization endeavors are guided by the Digital Transformation Strategy of PJSC Gazprom (Gazprom Group)Approved by resolution of the Board of Directors of PJSC Gazprom No. 4065 dated April 3, 2024., which enables enhanced operational efficiency and new business development through technological integration, as well as streamlined management of the transformation process and implementation of digital projectsThe digital transformation initiatives of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz and Gazprom Energoholding as the Group’s subholding companies have been incorporated into the Digital Transformation Strategy of PJSC Gazprom (Gazprom Group) since 2022. PJSC Gazprom Neft is in the process of drafting its own Digital Transformation Strategy..
Objectives of the Digital Transformation Strategy:
- significantly improve efficiency and promote new business lines through the use of digital technologies;
- increase the competitive capacity through flexible and adaptive digital management practices, including the creation of digital platforms and ecosystems;
- ensure system resilience and reliability through import substitution and anticipation in digital technologies.
The Gazprom Group’s digital transformation provides for a transition to a single integrated platform-based business model, gradual implementation of strategic digitalization goals, and the development of existing business segments. The transition to a platform-based model generates positive effects, including accelerated business processes, reduced transaction costs, and expanded and diversified sales markets.

IT and Information Security Risks Management
The Gazprom Group manages information security and information technology risks through the following measures:
- transitioning to the predominant use of domestic software and replacing foreign computer hardware with local counterparts;
- complying with information security requirements set out in the federal legislation of the Russian Federation, including decrees of the Government of the Russian Federation, orders of federal executive authorities responsible for security and technical protection of confidential information, and local regulations of PJSC Gazprom.
Training in Digital Technology
The Gazprom Group’s Digital Transformation Strategy has the Share of Managers, Specialists and Other White-Collar Staff Skilled in Digital Transformation as one of its KPIs. To achieve this KPI, the Group developed dedicated corporate programs and provides targeted (advanced) training in digital technologies at Gazprom Corporate Institute and Russian universities, including St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University LETI, Innopolis University, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
Training covers a broad range of formats, from short specialized courses to professional retraining and master’s degree programs, helping the Gazprom Group’s employees to get a grip on modern technologies and successfully implement them in production and management processes.
Role of the Gas Industry in the Digitalization of Economy and the Development of Artificial Intelligence
The gas industry plays an important and multifaceted role in the advancement of AI. On the one hand, natural gas acts as a strategic energy source ensuring reliable and stable power supply for data centers and computing capacity. On the other hand, the gas industry itself is becoming one of the leaders in AI adoption by creating high-tech digital solutions to improve the efficiency of natural gas production, transportation and sales.
AI is an important driver of competitiveness in the oil and gas industry, as it enables transition to a data-driven management model. The adoption of AI supports strategic changes, including the redesign of business models and stronger environmental responsibility.

The Gazprom Group’s intelligent systems leverage a broad spectrum of AI technologies, including decision support, computer vision, natural language processing, and speech technologies. To address operational challenges, the Group applies hybrid approaches combining conventional analytical models with AI methods, including digital twins that integrate physical equations and machine-learning algorithms to simulate and optimize asset performance throughout the entire life cycle.
