Message from the chairman of the PJSC Gazprom management committee
Dear friends,
In 2024, the Gazprom Group’s 500,000-strong team continued to confidently deliver on its plans across all priority areas.
The Group reliably supplies Russian consumers with the gas they need. In 2024, PJSC Gazprom hit a new record delivering 395.8 bcm of gas to the domestic market via its gas transmission system.
Gas significantly improves the quality of life for people in Russia, especially in rural areas, and gives industry additional incentives to boost production of popular goods. To maximize the number of people who benefit from our gas, we are actively implementing large-scale gas infrastructure expansion programs. By the end of 2024, the Company had fulfilled 1.18 million contracts with residents of gasified communities across the country to provide free gas connections up to the boundaries of private household plots. Similar contracts were signed with members of horticultural non-profit partnerships as well as healthcare and educational institutions.
Natural gas is also one of the most efficient energy sources to generate electricity and heat. We are consistently upgrading and improving the reliability of our generating facilities, and building new ones to meet the growing energy needs of Russian regions. In the reporting year, we began construction of a new power plant in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to support the development of railway infrastructure in Russia’s East.
PJSC Gazprom plays a major role in ensuring the country’s technological sovereignty. Together with Russian manufacturers and researchers, we develop and introduce cutting-edge equipment. For example, in 2024 we commenced the pilot operation of a new-generation gas turbine engine, which proved to be highly efficient and environmentally friendly.
Consistent enhancement of energy efficiency in production operations remains one of our core objectives. In the reporting year, we saved 3.9 bcm of gas through the use of energy-saving technologies and the best available solutions. To put this into perspective, this volume equals roughly a third of the annual gas consumption in a large city like St. Petersburg.
Improving corporate processes is another priority for the Company. In 2024, we undertook to establish the Unified Center for Support Functions (UCSF) as a way to ensure greater internal efficiency and longterm sustainable development of the Gazprom Group. The UCSF will consolidate previously dispersed support functions such as accounting, HR management, legal support, digital services, and end consumer interactions. This will significantly improve service quality across our production sites and free up their resources so that they could focus on strategic goals.
At the same time, we continue to invest in personnel development and upskilling in the Gazprom Group, offering our employees tailored training programs. We also actively recruit young talent by collaborating with schools and anchor universities and running initiatives to promote science and raise awareness about the gas industry among young people. In 2024, Gazprom Group entities employed more than 3,800 graduates of universities and secondary vocational institutions, with almost 20,000 university and vocational school students completing internships at our production facilities.
People seeking to build careers in the Gazprom Group value both the professional development opportunities we provide and our well-established corporate culture. Volunteering is an integral part of that culture. Every year, over 50,000 committed volunteers take part in social, environmental, patriotic, cultural, educational, and other initiatives. In the reporting year, the Gazprom Group ran more than 2,500 volunteer campaigns, while also supporting over 4,100 charity and sponsorship events in Russian regions.
We pay special attention to forging social partnerships in the regions where the Group operates, particularly those that support children’s development. To help the younger generation grow up healthy and active, we build modern sports facilities ranging from multipurpose playgrounds to full-scale sports complexes. These facilities can currently accommodate more than 270,000 children every day.
One of the highlights of 2024 was the opening of the Water Sports Center in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, one of the largest facilities of its kind in the Russian Far East that promotes new sports in Sakhalin such as synchronized swimming, diving, and water polo.
As we look to a secure future, we recognize the importance of Russia’s rich cultural and historical heritage for our further development. Preserving this heritage is our duty to the past, current and future generations. In 2024, following a major restoration project supported by PJSC Gazprom, the Zubov Wing of the Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo reopened to the public. All the halls of the Chinese Palace in Oranienbaum were also made accessible to visitors.
In the reporting year, we converted 171 Eternal Flame memorials across Russia to continuous gas supply. To mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in 2025 and commemorate the heroism of our ancestors, the Company is running the nationwide Preserving the Flame of Victory campaign. In just the first five months of the campaign, more than 130 Eternal Flame memorials were connected to the gas grid.
Dear friends,
The Gazprom Group views environmental protection efforts in Russia as an integral part of its corporate social responsibility. That is why the Environmental Report is now included in the Group’s annual Social Impact Report.
Our mission is to create value for people, open new opportunities for life and growth, and lay strong foundations for the future. The Gazprom Group is successfully delivering on this mission, and will continue to do so.
