The Gazprom Group’s Training System

PJSC Gazprom has put in place the Continuous Vocational Education and Training System for PJSC Gazprom’s personnel. A key instrument within system is the annual centralized Skills Upgrading and Professional Retraining Schedule for Managers and Specialists of PJSC Gazprom, its Subsidiaries and Entities. Subsidiaries and entities also adopt their own training plans for workstudy centers and educational institutions in the regions of operation.

The system ensures alignment of employees’ professional competences with the PJSC Gazprom production requirements and growth strategy through consistent service-long training based on custom-developed programs leveraging diverse learning aids, simulator technologies, and in-house training infrastructure.

To advance its continuous corporate professional training system, PJSC Gazprom has in place the Program for the Upgrade of Training and Production Resources of PJSC Gazprom Entities. The program envisages the construction of new and renovation and upgrade of existing training infrastructure, along with the development of PJSC Gazprom’s digital educational environment in 2022–2027.

In September 2024, the Oil and Gas Competencies Training Ground was inaugurated at the Gazprom Vocational School Novy Urengoy. The facility features state-of-theart equipment, enabling both students and professionals to gain hands-on experience in real-world simulated working conditions.

Gazprom contributes to the development of Russia’s national qualifications system. In 2024, the Russian Ministry of Labor and Social Protection approved four professional standards developed by PJSC Gazprom. During the reporting year, the Company developed three new draft professional standards, with another four to be drafted in 2025.

Young Talent Training and Onboarding

National Project:Human Resources, Youth and Children

PJSC Gazprom ensures prompt onboarding for new hires to maintain teams capable of tackling complex challenges and delivering large-scale projects.

The key principles guiding the onboarding of young professionals are outlined in the Regulation on Students and Young Talent Management at PJSC Gazprom’s Subsidiaries and EntitiesApproved by order of PJSC Gazprom No. 310 dated June 9, 2015 (as amended)..

The onboarding is carried out through dedicated programs involving mentors, including both experienced and young professionals.

Onboarding programs familiarize new employees with corporate traditions, enhance professional qualifications, and identify the most promising young specialists for career development across PJSC Gazprom and its subsidiaries and entities.

PJSC Gazprom’s School of Young Specialists has been expanded to include modules on implementing innovative technologies for hydrocarbon production, treatment, transportation, and processing at the Company’s subsidiaries and entities. To engage young professionals in scientific activities and facilitate their effective production onboarding, 57 Councils of Young Scientists and Specialists operate across PJCS Gazprom’s subsidiaries and entities. These councils organize roundtable discussions, applied research conferences, and various sports and cultural events.

Promising young employees can advance their professional skills through the Internship Program for Young Professionals at the Gazprom Group’s Production Facilities. This program features various modules covering the Gazprom Group’s strategic business areas, individual internships at its production sites, and sessions focused on developing personal, professional, and leadership competencies. It culminates in the presentation of interns’ graduation projects to an expert panel of PJSC Gazprom. In 2024, ten individuals completed internships under the Program.

Councils of Young Scientists and Specialists

To build strong work teams and expedite the new employee onbording process, the Gazprom Group entities rely on a corporate mentorship system. It involves both seasoned employees with recognized expertise and recent graduates of universities and vocational colleges. Members of the Councils of Young Scientists and Specialists also take an active role in the process. Training is conducted at production facilities and through e-learning formats, providing hands-on exposure to technological processes and equipment operation modes

During the reporting year, PJSC Gazprom’s main scientific organization — Gazprom VNIIGAZ — held the 12th International Youth Scientific and Practical Conference “New Technologies in Gas Industry: Experience and Continuity”. The event brought together 243 young employees from the Company’s 68 subsidiaries and entities, with 190 research papers presented across 11 thematic tracks.

Additionally, Gazprom VNIIGAZ organized a case study championship titled “Designing Digital Twins for Gas Production Facilities”. The competition involved 94 participants from the Company’s 31 subsidiaries and entities.

Young researchers at PJSC Gazprom receive grant funding on a competitive basis every year. The competition winners are awarded grants for postgraduate studies and doctoral research placements.

In 2024, the Gazprom Group held a series of online lectures for young audiences titled Immersion in Science, covering key techniques for adapting scientific texts, effective public speaking, digital etiquette, as well as guidelines for writing research papers and dissertations. The total number of participants exceeded 1,300.

Collaboration with Higher Education Institutions

The Gazprom Group maintains a longstanding collaboration with educational institutions, implementing joint cuttingedge scientific and technical projects while fostering high-quality professional training for future specialists.

To attract young talent, PJSC Gazprom organizes career guidance initiatives, including:

  • Gazprom Classes;
  • Gazprom Industry Olympiad for Schoolchildren;
  • Student Olympiad of Gazprom;
  • Forums for Gazprom Classes students and its sponsored students.

PJSC Gazprom is committed to identifying high-potential students and subsequently employing them. To this end, it holds Gazprom Days and job fairs at partner universities, where students may learn about the operations of PJSC Gazprom’s subsidiaries and entities, future projects, and current job openings, while also receiving internship invitations. In 2024, 18 job fairs were held at educational institutions.

The Gazprom Group analyzes regional labor markets and monitors the composition and turnover of the workforce with secondary vocational and higher education. Based on this data, Gazprom Group entities identify candidates for sponsored training programs, organize student internships, and facilitate training placements for academic staff from educational institutions at production facilities. In 2024, 11,929 university students and 7,720 vocational college students completed internships at PJSC Gazprom’s subsidiaries and entities.

PJSC Gazprom has identified 18 partner universities through expert evaluation to ensure high-quality professional training in core business areas. These institutions are located in Innopolis, Kazan, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Tyumen, Ufa, Ukhta, and Yakutsk. Based on collaboration efficiency, alignment of university research with the Gazprom Group’s technological priorities, research performance, operational excellence, and financial stability, 13 institutions were designated as PJSC Gazprom’s anchor universities and 5 received special partner university status.

In 2025, the Gazprom Group is set to sign 332 employer-sponsored training agreements within the quota allocated for its entities.

The Gazprom Industry Olympiad for Schoolchildren in the 2023–2024 academic year was held across six subject areas, three of which are included in the Russian Ministry of Education’s List of School Olympiads. A total of 18,696 participants from 86 regions of Russia and 94 foreign countries registered for the competition. Following the final round, 930 schoolchildren were recognized as winners and prize recipients.

The Student Olympiad of Gazprom in the 2023–2024 academic year featured 11 subject areas. It attracted 4,708 participants from eight federal districts of Russia and 30 foreign countries, including 1,041 PJSC Gazpromsponsored students. Diplomas were awarded to 259 students, 19 of whom were PJSC Gazprom-sponsored. Thirteen participants were named absolute winners and received valuable prizes.

The Gazprom Group actively engages students to work at its companies through student squads under a strategic partnership agreement between PJSC Gazprom, GazstroypromThe Gazprom Group’s associated entity., and the Russian Student Squads All-Russian Youth Public Organization (RSO).

In 2024, PJSC Gazprom’s student squads participated in 20 labor projects as part of 112 construction and service squads working at the Chayandinskoye, Kovyktinskoye, and Kirinskoye fields in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and Irkutsk Region. Students also took part in constructing the Ethane-Containing Gas Plant in the Leningrad Region as part of the Ust-Luga labor project.

Preparation for the labor season continued throughout the year, with both labor project managers and participants completing training programs. From June 1 to 3, 2024, PJSC Gazprom’s inaugural Command Staff School was held for the first time at Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, providing new knowledge and skills to over 50 managers of PJSC Gazprom’s student labor squad projects and representatives from partner universities.

Since 2023, RSO student members have been annually receiving vocational training in the areas of construction, service, and education through dedicated quotas at educational institutions. In 2024, a total of 2,212 students completed training across 36 professional disciplines.

In October 2024, Yekaterinburg hosted the 2nd Forum of PJSC Gazprom’s Student Squads as part of the 4th International Construction Championship. The event brought together over 190 students from Russian universities who had worked in the Gazprom Group’s student squads during 2024. The Forum honored the bestperforming students of PJSC Gazprom’s squads based on their work achievements during the labor season. Squad participants learned about career opportunities for young specialists within PJSC Gazprom and took an active part in the Championship events.

During the 13th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, RSO signed cooperation agreements with GazpromMedia Holding and Gazprom Invest. Student squad members provided volunteer support for the Forum’s events.

In November 2024, Moscow hosted the All-Russian Student Labor Squad Forum commemorating the movement’s 65th anniversary and the 20th anniversary of its modern revival. This culminating event of the anniversary year attracted over 12,500 movement participants, including top-performing students from PJSC Gazprom’s student labor squads.

Gazprom Classes

PJSC Gazprom implements the Gazprom Classes initiative across its regions of operation to provide early career guidance for schoolchildren. Participants engage in team-building activities, sports and cultural events, as well as corporate career guidance training sessions. The most talented and highly motivated students undergo selection for sponsored education in areas that meet the needs of the Gazprom Group entities.

As of September 1, 2023, 45 Gazprom Classes operated at schools in six federal districts of Russia.

New regions join the initiative every year. In the reporting year, a Gazprom Class was launched for the first time in Tyumen, and another class opened in Nadym.

In 2024, with support from Gazprom Dobycha Yamburg and the Industrial University of Tyumen, the 7th Annual Forum of Gazprom Classes Students was held. For the first time, the event took place directly at an active production site of Gazprom Dobycha Yamburg in the Yamburg shift camp. This year’s Forum brought together 185 participants, including 132 students from dedicated classes, Gazprom School, Gazprom School St. Petersburg, Matlashov Gazprom College in Volgograd, and Gazprom Vocational School Novy Urengoy, along with representatives from PJSC Gazprom’s partner universities.

Stepping Stones to the future

In April 2024, in partnership with Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, the Stepping Stones research project competition for Gazprom Classes students was held using remote technologies. Participants included students from Gazprom Classes, Gazprom School, Gazprom School St. Petersburg, Gazprom Vocational School Novy Urengoy, and Matlashov Gazprom College in Volgograd. The Technological Breakthrough: from Conception to Application competition featured five key sections: Engineering Solutions in the Oil and Gas Industry; Chemical Technology; Digital Economy, Social Technology Management; Technosphere Environmental Safety in the Oil and Gas Industry; and Energy Saving and Alternative Energy. A panel of experts from 15 partner universities of PJSC Gazprom reviewed and evaluated over 70 projects submitted by 106 participants.

Scientific and Educational Outreach

For five years since 2021, PJSC Gazprom has operated its Open Science corporate information platform aimed at enhancing the accessibility of information about the achievements and prospects of the oil and gas sector-related science. It also seeks to foster and strengthen scientific communications both within the research community and beyond, with a view to engaging scientists, developers, and providers of innovative solutions, equipment, and services to address scientific and technological challenges in the oil and gas sector.

Under the Open Science initiative, the Company organizes lectures by leading scientists and renowned experts in the oil and gas industry, workshops, scientific readings, quizzes, and marathons, including those held as part of major industry-specific and interdisciplinary forums and conferences.

PJSC Gazprom actively involves representatives from its anchor partner universities and special partner universities in these events.

In 2024, PJSC Gazprom’s Open Science information platform hosted over 100 events.

 

The platform regularly conducted quizzes and intellectual games as part of the Power of Science marathon, with participation of young professionals and researchers from PJSC Gazprom’s subsidiaries, students and postgraduates from partner universities, and school students.
