Message from the Chairman of the PJSC Gazprom Management Committee
Dear friends,
Our unwavering commitment to prioritize the welfare of Russia and its people across all our endeavors remains resolute. At Gazprom, we ensure the reliable delivery of energy resources to consumers while implementing large-scale infrastructure projects. We place great emphasis on environmental stewardship, scientific advancements, mass sports, and other areas of social impact.
Our goal is to make natural gas, the most convenient, economical, and environmentally friendly energy source, accessible to as many people in Russia as possible. The availability of network gas significantly enhances the quality of life. Therefore, large-scale gas infrastructure expansion programs for Russian regions are of special priority in Gazprom’s operations.
In 2023, we successfully brought gas to over 400 communities, with gas penetration rate in Russia reaching an impressive 89% of the technically feasible level. We are steadfastly progressing towards our objective of achieving 100% by 2030.
Under the guidance of Russian President Vladimir Putin, we are extending gas networks to the boundaries of consumers’ households without soliciting any funds from citizens. At the end of 2023, more than 1.1 million households in Russia enjoyed the opportunity to connect to network gas. Additionally, we have initiated efforts on further gas infrastructure expansion to cover boiler houses in healthcare and educational institutions. In 2024, the program will also include house owners in gardening associations in settlements with existing gas supplies.
Natural gas is not only an environmentally friendly energy source but also an excellent motor fuel. Its use significantly reduces emissions, making it particularly relevant for cities with heavy traffic. Gazprom is steadily expanding its network of gas filling stations. At the end of 2023, the Gazprom Group already operated 464 facilities, accounting for more than half of the total number of such stations in the country.
Gazprom is actively collaborating with domestic industry and science to develop and introduce advanced technologies, including energy-saving ones. This collaboration bolsters the efficiency of processes along the entire production chain, reducing the consumption of resources for the Company’s needs. In 2023, total energy consumption from non-renewable sources across the Group decreased by 3.5%. Gazprom’s consistent focus on using domestic materials and equipment significantly contributes to ensuring the technological sovereignty of the national fuel and energy sector and related industries.
Gazprom’s vast team of nearly half a million people works tirelessly across Russia, from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka, and abroad. We prioritize providing safe working conditions, a high level of social protection, and ample opportunities for training and professional development for everyone. Regular professional skills contests are held, with many of our winners becoming international champions.
Gazprom is deeply invested in the all-round development and upbringing of the younger generation. As part of the Gazprom for Children project, 116 sports complexes, playgrounds, and stadiums were built and reconstructed in the reporting year. This project is unparalleled in Russia in terms of scale and coverage, with a new sports facility being commissioned almost every three days. Over the entire project period, more than 2,100 sports and social facilities have been constructed.
